Aloha e’
My name is Sarah Katherine Barrick.
I am a photographer residing off grid in a magical north shore neighborhood known as Huelo on the island of Maui. I have the privilege of serving the Maui community as a teaching artist, photographer and darkroom tech with Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center in Makawao.
I started capturing images with my dad’s old Nikon film camera when I was 12 years old. My persistent love of photography led me to obtaining my B.F.A from Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design at Georgia State University in Atlanta, where I graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors along with an academic presidential award and photographer of the year award in 2005.
I have 19 years of experience as an event and portrait photographer and am the owner and creator of Pause, Breathe, Blossom: Meditative Modern Art & Accessories. My art, jewelry and dresses featuring nature photography based mandalas captured in the Pacific Northwest can be found in Seattle based boutiques and have been featured in the Seattle Times.
I receive a lot of joy and light from capturing the true essence of others through candid and curated photographs, writing songs and helping others heal with the power of yoga, guided meditation and hands on healing. In my free time you’ll find me meditating by the beautiful stream that runs through my neighborhood, creating visual art and original songs in my tiny jungle halé, or chopping coconuts with my stainless steel machete.
I would be honored to have the opportunity to help you celebrate special moments in your life. I offer sliding scale rates and a Kama‘āina discount for Maui residents. B&W film photography is available upon request if you prefer analogue over digital.
I look forward to meeting you soon. Schedule a free in person or virtual consultation with me today.
